FLORA & FAUNA—Is a multicultural immersive experience which combines art, spoken word, drumming and sound healing in celebration of Afro History Month. This exhibition is a sociological commentary on Afro Empowerment, Social Justice, and celebrations of the Afro Communities.

Is a poster series designed to emphasize the need for Afro-Humans to work together to construct artifacts, illuminate their minds and push culture forward. This series also examines the number seven and its hidden societal meaning—For example, the number seven is considered to be a divine number, there are seven individual posters that make up this series, each focusing/representing a specific topic. Seven posters in total, seven titles and seven letters that make up each title; America, Trinity, Paucity, Nirvana, Justice, Freedom, & Liberty.

Thinkin’ For A Change
"Thinkin For A Change" (TFAC) is a hand-lettering series that uses musical lyrics (Rap, Hip Hop & Reggae) to explore the documented stories of injustice, inequality, police brutality and racial violence towards Afro humans. TFAC is a call to action for Afro people to take action, speak their truths, practice self discipline, and take ownership of their position in life. Understand that freedom is a state of mind and not a place to be. TFAC aims to disrupt the current societal prejudice & inspire thoughts that encourage actions that unite.

Solunar is an introspective and collaborative triptych created by artists UNAPXLXGETIC x Eric Bussart. This work of art explores the solunar (Sun and Moon) and how it relates to the human experience on earth.

AMATERASU, THE SUN GODDESS
This poster series tells the story of the highest deity in Japanese mythology. Amaterasu the sun goddess she shuts herself away in a cave, bringing disasters to both the world and heaven. This is a metaphor for the seasons in the year and the seasons in our lives.

We play Kora, balafon, talking drum, and calabash - all traditional Mandinka instruments. Some songs are about people and events century's back, with morals, proverbs and stories told with the rhythm of rap.
Karen Smith Drums
Karen Smith is the proud recipient of a 2023 Pew Fellowship grant.
A New York Native/Philadelphia Transplant, Karen is a percussionist, playwright, director, producer, and poet. She is also the founder and leader of two musical collectives: The Karen Smith Experience, and Sistahs Laying Down Hands (SLDH).

Works On Display
The works in this series offer an authentic interpretation of universal knowledge that exists in the human mind as well as in our external environments. The artists draw influences from African, Japanese and Greek mythology and other spiritual/religious artworks. Overall, the ‘Solunar’ exhibition invites the viewer on an introspective journey of their own life sequences and to consider a more conscious connection to the self and the world they live in.
